Police officers are typically required to take the civil service exam. There are many study guides available from your local bookstore or library. Your local police department can help you with scheduling your exam, or you can contact your state’s justice department.
Not only will you have to take the civil service exam, you will need to pass a physical exam as well. The exam tests your agility, vision, hearing, and strength. This will also include a drug and lie detector test.
