About Ashford University
Ashford University’s humble beginnings date back to 1891 when the Sisters of St. Francis began teaching in the small town of Clinton, Iowa and established the Mount St. Clare Academy. In 1918, the school grew from a boarding school to a liberal arts institution named Mount St. Clare college.
The school continued to expand and grow over the years and in 2002 the college started offering graduate courses over the internet changing its name to the Franciscan University. In 2005, the school was bought by a Higher Education organization becoming a for-profit institution and was renamed Ashford University.
Online Degree Programs Offered
Ashford University offers Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees both on campus and through it’s online services. More than 18,000 students are enrolled in Ashford University. Students can choose from fourteen different majors including Accounting, Business, Healthcare and Criminal Justice. Bachelor of Science majors are also available in Biology, Health Science or Natural Science.
